Find out how you can prepare for a major earthquake, which the U.S. Geological Survey says is inevitable. Capt. Erica Arteseros discusses the San Francisco Fire Department’s Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT), a disaster-readiness program where participants can learn how to respond to a crisis.

Go here to learn more about NERT.

“Our first session is personal preparedness. It’s all about you — what do you need to do to get yourself ready? … Thinking about what you won’t have, and getting some things so that you can bridge until services get back up and running. And then in our second session we really start breaking into, what are the utilities challenges that you’ll have? What if you have a small fire in your home?” — Capt. Erica Arteseros
