If all goes according to plan, by early next year, the Mission will have five new parklets, which are miniature parks that slightly extend portions of sidewalk into the street to offer decorative seating to the general public. That would give the the neighborhood 16 parklets in total, with 13 on Valencia Street.
The Mission’s 12 existing parklets make up approximately 20 percent of the 57 parklets in San Francisco.
