On Tuesday SFappeal reported that San Francisco public officials are supporting the campaign, “Home for Halloween” to keep street party celebrations out of the Castro.

The campaign began four years ago after a Halloween shooting in the Castro injured nine people. The general goal for “Home for Halloween” is to keep crowds out of the small Castro neighborhood.

The website provided for “Home for Halloween” lists Halloween activities outside the Castro, as well as transportation and safety information for the night of the 31st.

Supervisor Bevan Dufty, whose district which includes the Castro, told SFappeal: “There are many wonderful and safe events happening in San Francisco neighborhoods and throughout the Bay Area. So, once again, we’re encouraging people to celebrate Halloween in their own home neighborhoods and cities. The Castro, while open for business, will not be closed for a street party."
