Tech Tools Training at the Knight Digital Media Center

Re-posted from The Next Newsroom Project:

This week I’m at the Technology Tools Training for Journalists Workshop the Knight Digital Media Center.

Lucky for me, I live just down the street in Oakland. But there’s a great group of journalists traveling from across the country to take part in the event.

I’ve been applying for these workshops for a couple of years now, and this is the first time I’ve gotten into one. So I’m very excited. If you’re a novice, or looking to upgrade your skills, you should seriously consider applying to one of the future tech tools or multimedia workshops.

I’m going to be posting throughout the week about various sessions. We’re going to cover some great subjects, including Building a System for Breaking News/Intro to the Newsroom; Basic Map Mashup (create and post); Geo Mapping Photos (create and post); Point mapping from data sources (create and post); Producing Multimedia Content – SoundSlides, Podcasts; Creating and Deploying Publication Widgets; Using Flash Shells; Flickr and YouTube for Newsrooms.

If you’ve got some time, they will be webcasting various portions of the week as well. More details are here:
